Pseudo-coin brooch; flat reverse with two attachment points of a lost needle construction, on the obverse a bearded head of a ruler with a gable crown and pendilia (bands hanging down on the sides) en face, the portrait is surrounded by two pearl circles, between which there is a backwards inscription that can be deciphered as + DEIIO [..] III E ∙ [..] T. The pennies of Emperor Henry III minted in Goslar after 1047/48 served as the template for this type of brooch. In contrast to the coins, the brooches bear the inscription BENNO ME FECIT ("Benno made me") or more or less wild variations of it.
