Unfortunately, I didn't notice it in the field and didn't measure it. I only noticed it when I got home and was cleaning.

This is a classic - and unfortunately happens regularly. I always tell my SGs that they should definitely measure everything that they cannot clearly identify and date on site. You can always sort it out afterwards, but reconstructing field data is much more difficult.

That's true. But you can also find hundreds of pieces of metal in a field. That's all it looked like. I think some people would have thrown it away long ago. But I always put all pieces of metal in my lost and found bag.
